Ganesha with stones

Ganesha is perhaps the most popular of all Indian gods. He is considered to be the son of Parvati and Shiva. According to legend, Shiva left to meditate and Parvati gave birth to a son out of loneliness. When Shiva returned, he cut off his son's head in anger. Realizing what he had done, he ordered the head of the first passerby to be placed on Ganesha's body to revive him. It was an elephant - a new god was born, combining the power of Shiva and Parvati.
He is said to remove all obstacles. That is why he is often invoked before any kind of commitment. He ensures both material and spiritual well-being and is thus considered the patron of entrepreneurs. But Ganesha should also be present at every new beginning, be it a move or a new job, as he blesses the new situation and promises good luck.
Ganesha has four arms. They represent the four aspects of the subtle body: mind, ego, spirit and consciousness.
